Week 17 recap

I went to a concert with a friend on Monday night and by the time I got home and got to bed it was after midnight. 4:30 came way too early... Tuesday I ran 7 miles with 5x600m at 6:59 pace with a 90 second jog in between. I didn't even try to get up Wednesday morning and did my 13 mile run after work. Thursday was supposed to be a double - 6 in the morning and 4 at night, but I turned off my alarm and crawled back in bed. I did a 6 mile recovery run that night. Since Friday was another scheduled recovery day, I did a 5 mile recovery run in the morning and a 4 mile recovery run in the afternoon.

Saturday's schedule called for a 8-10K tune-up race. Donna had an all day conference so I couldn't do an actual race so I was going to do a run at race pace. I haven't raced yet this year and haven't done a lot of speed work and I was a little over ambitious when deciding what to try as my race pace. I did 1 mile warm up and then started in at 7:03 pace at 1.5% incline. I decided not to push myself too hard and my 5 mile race turned into a 5K. I did another 2 miles cool down to give me 6 for the day.

Sunday's long run didn't start very well. I had to stop for a bathroom break at 2 1/2 miles and then again at 10 miles. The second 10 miles went a lot letter and I felt pretty good. I could have easily kept running. 20 miles for the day and a total of 63 for the week. This was my 5th run of 20 miles or more (20, 20, 21, 23 and 20) and I have two more to go (21 and 20).
