Hillsboro Balloon Festival 5K

My goal pace for this race was 6:40. The weather was on the warm side, but it wasn't as hot as it had been during the day. I ran the first mile and back as a warm up and there was a lot of shade so it wasn't too bad on the course. I went out a little to fast the first mile (6:25) and started to fade a little after the half way point. At the water stop just after mile 2 (6:46) I stopped long enough to take a big gulp of water. The third mile had a few small hills and my time was 6:57. I still had enough left for a kick down the stretch and end up passing someone who was in my age group. The last .1 was 0:35. My official time was 20:43 and I was 23rd overall, 5th in my age group.

I may have to look for some fall 5Ks to see if I can get under 20 minutes after doing more speed work over the summer.
